Woman jailed after allegedly stealing tarantulas from Mobile pet store

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A 22-year-old Mobile woman remained in jail Thursday following her arrest on a charge of organized retail theft in the case of two stolen tarantulas, according to police and Mobile County Metro Jail records.

The Mobile Police Department said Rayjah Johnson is accused of removing two red rump tarantulas from their habitat at a local pet store and leaving the store without paying for them.

The alleged theft took place at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at B&B Pet Stop at 5035 Cottage Hill Road, police said.
