LOXLEY, Ala. (WALA) – A Loxley man has been arrested after police said he held a home healthcare provider against her will at gunpoint. She was able to break free and call for help. Baldwin County SWAT was called in after the suspect barricaded himself inside the home. Fortunately, the standoff ended without further incident.
Fifty-six-year-old Lavann Callier appeared before Baldwin County District Judge, Michael Hoyt Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, for a bond hearing. Callier faces robbery and resisting arrest charges after an alleged violent outburst inside a home on Hillard Jenkins Road where police said he lives with his elderly grandmother.
“We believe that he was intoxicated,” said Sgt. Zach Kuiken with Loxley Police. “He lived there with his grandmother and made some advances towards a home health nurse on the second floor of the residence. The home health nurse tried to get away from him and at that time he produced a twenty-two rifle and tried to command her. Took her cell phone so she couldn’t call for help.”
That’s when police said the victim made a choice to fight and was able to free herself, escape the home and call police from a neighbor’s house. When Loxley learned the suspect had barricaded himself, along with his 99-year-old grandmother inside the home, they called in Baldwin County SWAT for assistance…
