Alabama Shipyard rescue: Man removed from hole in deck

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Mobile Fire-Rescue Department officials rescued a man after he fell into a hole Thursday morning at the Alabama Shipyard.

According to Mobile Police Department officials, MFRD was called to the shipyard around 8:15 a.m. for a report of a technical rescue.

They arrived and found a man had fallen about 8 feet down into a 25-foot hole on the deck of a ship, according to officials.

A shipyard crew had to cut into the side of the ship so MFRD officials could get him out and take him to a local hospital.
