MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Excelsior Band Preservation is set to hold a fundraiser for the iconic Excelsior Band.

The fundraiser, “Keep the Music Playing,” will benefit the organization’s mission in preserving the history and protecting the future of The Excelsior Band, which celebrates its 142nd anniversary this year. It is set to take place on Sunday, Nov. 16, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Byrne Hall, located on the Spring Hill College campus.
Live performances from The Excelsior Band, The Jazz Studio, and The Jazz Studio alumni band, as well as a silent auction and refreshments, can be expected. Attendees will also have the chance to see a rendering of The Excelsior Band’s future home, the Ace Theater.
“We are incredibly excited to host our first fundraiser and invite the community to join us in celebrating the enduring legacy of The Excelsior Band,” a representative for The Excelsior Band Preservation said. “Your support is vital as we continue to move forward with our mission to preserve this invaluable part of Mobile’s cultural heritage and inspire future generations of musicians.”
