MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A grand jury will consider felony charges against two men accused of firing shots downtown in August.
Taurean Jamarcus Richardson, 22, of Grand Bay, gave up his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday. That means charges of robbery and shooting into vehicles automatically will be sent to the grand jury.
After hearing testimony at a preliminary hearing, Mobile County District Judge Zackery Moore ruled prosecutors have sufficient evidence to move forward against co-defendant Robert Lekholby Kyles, despite arguments from his lawyer that it is “100 percent” a self-defense case.
A Mobile police officer laid out the sequence of events at 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 10. He said Richardson indicated that he had gone to high school with Carlos Fortune and Fortune owed him $800 to $900.
