Mobile City Council greenlights MLK Avenue overhaul

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Another downtown street is about to get the “Complete Streets” treatment.

The Mobile City Council on Tuesday gave the green light to an $11.2 million project to overhaul Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, from Butchers Lane to where Broad Street becomes Beauregard Street.

It involves replacing old water and sewer pipes, along with gas lines, underneath the street. That is designed to reduce flooding…
