DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) — Bayfront Park in Daphne will be closed to the public starting Monday as construction begins on a multi-million dollar amphitheater project.
“We are building a new amphitheater, a new bathroom facility, and a stage area for 25 hundred comfortably seated patrons of the amphitheater, and also it is going to be a daily use park,” said Executive Director of Community Development Troy Strunk. “There is going to be a splash pad, there’s going to be shade structures and lots of benches and places to run and play for all the kids and for people to look at the beautiful view of Mobile Bay.”
All this is part of the city’s plan to provide more water access for citizens of Daphne and Baldwin County.
Bayfront Drive will be closed to traffic on Monday, Oct. 27, just west of Moe’s BBQ. The initial phase of the project will involve clearing trees and filling wetlands to create a parking area before the actual construction of the amphitheater begins, according to Strunk.
“This is a 13 and a half million dollar project, and we can’t wait to unveil it in April of 2027.”
Bayfront Pier will remain accessible during the project through Village Point Park…
