MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Some cases are whodunnits; others are fights over motive. In a manslaughter case that went before a judge Wednesday, the prosecution and defense don’t even agree on how the victim died.
Mobile County District Judge Johana Bucci heard conflicting testimony about an altercation on Sept. 27 that led to the death of Matthew Wiggins a week later. She ruled prosecutors had met their probable cause burden for the charges to stand until a grand jury decides whether to indict defendant Mark Anthony Flores Jr.
Law enforcement officers responded to Moffett Road near Glenwood Road in western Mobile County, initially believing it to be a hit and run.
