Dr. Ann Branch Continues to Lead Rabies Prevention Efforts for Mobile County Residents

Dr. Ann Branch serves as the Rabies Officer for the Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) in Mobile, Alabama. At the October 2025 Board of Health meeting, Dr. Branch was selected to continue administering rabies vaccines at weekend clinics, a position she has held since 2003.

Dr. Branch began her work in epidemiology during her veterinary studies. She has spent over twenty years focused on rabies prevention in Mobile County. She stated that she intends to continue these duties as long as possible. Her responsibilities include vaccinating pets and educating the public about rabies prevention.

Rabies prevention involves cooperation among several groups. Dr. Branch works with MCHD’s Bureau of Disease Surveillance and Control, local veterinarians, and animal control agencies.
