SNAP cuts wouldn’t just impact low-income families; grocery stores brace for hit

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – If the federal government freezes funding to the food stamp program, the financial hit would have an impact beyond the low-income families who depend on it.

It also would be a blow to grocery stores that rely on the spending that the program supports.

“So with that cutting down, you know, it’s tough for all business owners to come back and, you know, make the same profits and revenue we do, as we would with the SNAP benefits, which, you know, just brings business down,” said Pranay Arora, who owns Hop-In convenience store on Dauphin Island Parkway…
