FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) – Halloween is the one night a year where it’s completely acceptable to eat as much candy as you want, but it’s no trick that those treats are getting a lot more expensive to make.

Chef Jule at Fairhope Chocolate & Bakery has been in the industry for almost 20 years and she tells WKRG News 5 that the cost of production has never been this high.
“It’s made us be more creative,” Chef Jule said. “It’s given us a bigger palette in the shop, but it is difficult.”
She tells us chocolate prices are frightening, hitting record numbers this year.
“This started about a year ago. The majority of chocolate in this world is grown in Africa and there was a problem with the production of that, the growth of the chocolate,” Chef Jule said. “Our chocolate went from $130 a case to now we’re paying approximately $550 a case.”…
