Mobile County corrections officer dies in rear-end crash near Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WALA) – A Mobile County Sheriff’s Office employee was killed in a weekend crash on Interstate 65 when her car was rear-ended, according to a crash report.

Chelice Burns, 64, died in the collision that also injured three others. Burns was a corrections corporal who had served with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office for 15 years since 2010.

The crash report shows a Dodge Challenger slammed into the back of Burns’ car, sending both vehicles off the roadway. The Challenger driver was traveling 70 miles per hour when he hit Burns, who was going 20 miles per hour, according to the report…
