SUMMERDALE, Ala. (WKRG) — Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin County opened its new “Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials” facility during its “America Recycles Day” celebration on Saturday.
“Today we have the grand opening of our Magnolia “CHaRM” facility, which is adjacent to our new material recovery facility that we opened earlier this year,” said Terri Graham, CEO of the Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin County.
After the success of their first “CHaRM” site in Fairhope that opened in August, leaders said they were ready to grow with a bigger site in Summerdale.
“We’re just so excited to provide a facility for a convenient drop off location, not only for your regular materials, for all that household hazardous waste,” said Susan Kilby-Aaron, director of recycle services.
Drivers can pull through the new site and drop off cardboard, plastic and metal on one side of the facility, and electronics, household liquids and batteries on the other…
