ALABAMA — Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch on Thursday showcased the results of his agency’s Special Operations Division, which over the past 90 days led to 142 arrests, hundreds of pounds of drugs, and nearly 200 guns seized.
The unit, created to target drug activity and crime across the county, worked 219 cases, resulting in 259 felony charges, including:
- 91 drug possession charges
- 30 first-degree marijuana possession charges
- 70 drug trafficking charges
- 49 drug distribution charges
Officers also filed 196 misdemeanor charges, seized 198 guns, two vehicles, and $52,100 in cash. The seized drugs included marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. Sheriff Burch noted that the unit had confiscated another 30 pounds of marijuana just within the past 30 to 45 minutes.
