MOBILE, Ala. — A second-grade teacher once honored as her school’s “Teacher of the Year” has been arrested and fired after a disturbing video surfaced showing her repeatedly beating her son with a belt inside their Mobile home, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

The teacher, identified as Nicole Staples, was recorded striking her 12-year-old son at least 20 times, while yelling at him as he screamed in pain. The video went viral after being leaked online, drawing widespread outrage and prompting an immediate criminal investigation.

Footage Shows Repeated Strikes and Verbal Abuse

The video — obtained by the New York Post and confirmed by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office — shows Staples holding a belt and whipping her son multiple times in the living room. In the footage, she can be heard shouting, “You’re not f—— sorry!” while delivering a rapid series of blows as the child cries and begs her to stop.
