Saraland City Schools to close for state championship game

SARALAND, Ala. (WKRG) — Saraland City Schools will close Friday as the Saraland Spartans travel to Birmingham to take on the Clay-Chalkville Cougars in the State Championship, according to the Saraland Board of Education.

The 6A Championship game is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Protective Stadium in Birmingham.

According to a Saraland BOE news release, more than a third of high school students will be headed to the game, including football players, band members, cheerleaders, dance line, managers, athletic trainers and support leaders in the student section.

“When we include siblings, families and the many staff members who will travel to Birmingham to supervise, support or cheer on our students, the impact reaches every school in our district,” the release said…
