Mobile student threw deodorant can at teammate seriously injuring his eye, indictment says

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A McGill-Toolen High School student-athlete is in trouble with the law.

According to court documents, a Mobile County Grand Jury indicted the 17-year-old on a misdemeanor third-degree assault charge.

The teen is accused of throwing a deodorant aerosol can, seriously injuring a 15-year-old in the eye while the two were getting ready for class after early morning workouts.

Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood said, “I understand that things go on in the locker rooms, but when there’s conduct like this that causes an injury that’s this egregious, that’s when it bleeds over into the level of criminal conduct. we have a serious injury. we have an aerosol can being used in a manner that’s very dangerous. The line between horseplay and criminal, this is a lot closer to criminal than any kind of horseplay.”…
