MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A jury took just 10 minutes Wednesday to find a Prichard man not guilty of murder in a case that prosecutors described as a revenge killing.
Quinta Martize McCants, 39, was the first of several defendants to go on trial for the fatal shooting of Martha McGinsey, a Mobile woman whose son had fatally shot a member of the McCants family hours earlier. Sidney Burke later pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of Quinta McCants’ cousin, Keontae McCants.
McGinsey was in her home on Roderick Road when gunmen stormed in and opened fire. Prosecutors did not allege that Quinta McCants fired a gun, but they accused him of playing a role in the murder…
