Baldwin County holiday events postponed or canceled because of weather concerns

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) – This week’s rain has been a welcome sight, but its timing could have been better. Many holiday festivities across the area have been postponed or cancelled because of it.

“We’ll continue to see rain here throughout the day today and really the next several days because we’re going to see this whole thing kind of stall out here across the area so we’re going to continue to get waves of rain,” FOX10 meteorologist, Matt Barrentine told viewers during his Thursday morning forecast.

It was forecasts like this that forced several cities across Baldwin County to make difficult decisions. As rain continued to come down throughout the day, one by one, notices of cancellations and make up dates began to come out. By midday, there were six changes announced.

Thursday’s tree lighting ceremony in Daphne has been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 9th, Fairhope’s Christmas parade which was to be Friday night, December 5th has been cancelled and there will be no makeup date and Silverhill’s Friday parade has been cancelled with a makeup date to come…
