LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – An Oak Grove assistant band director was arrested and charged with touching a child for lustful purposes by a person in the position of trust.

According to the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel Johnson, 39, was arrested on December 4, 2025.
Investigators said the incident involved an Oak Grove High School student. They said the crime was reported to school authorities, who notified the sheriff’s office.
Johnson’s bond was set at $50,000. The case will be presented to the Lamar County Grand Jury.
WJTV 12 News reached out to the Lamar County School District about the arrest. Lamar County Superintendent of Education Dr. Wesley Quick said Johnson is no longer employed by the district.
