City of Mobile Extends Opportunity for Affordable Housing Proposals to Benefit Local Residents

The City of Mobile, Alabama, has extended its Request for Proposals (RFP) for affordable housing development. The Neighborhood Development Department manages this initiative. Funding comes from Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds. These funds were allocated by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) in response to Hurricanes Sally and Zeta.

The RFP was first published on November 20, 2024. It is now extended for at least one year from December 5, 2025. The City is seeking proposals from for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. The goal is to develop affordable rental housing for low to moderate income households, with a focus on vulnerable populations in Mobile.
