Bayou La Batre Residents Advised to Avoid Standing Water After Shell Belt Road Sewer Overflow

On December 5, 2025, the Utilities Board of Bayou La Batre responded to a sanitary sewer overflow on Shell Belt Road, south of Faith Street, in Mobile, Alabama. The overflow was caused by an electrical failure related to weather conditions. Less than 1,000 gallons of sewage were released onto an empty lot.

Officials said the sewage was absorbed into the ground and did not reach nearby bodies of water.
