City of Mobile owes $800K in back rent, says County

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — The Mobile County Commission said the City of Mobile owes more than $800,000 in back rent for Government Plaza.

The county owns Government Plaza, with the city renting space there, but the last time the city paid any amount for their space was in September.

The county increased the city’s rent amount with their new lease, which started on Oct. 1, from $125,000 a month to $237,000.
