Mobile County school board fires Theodore High bookkeeper over alleged discrepancies

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile County school board Thursday upheld the termination of Theodore High School’s bookkeeper after hearing testimony of discrepancies so glaring that an auditor recommended the school be put in receivership.

At a hearing requested by Courtney Davis to contest her firing, a lawyer for Superintendent Chresal Threadgill laid out evidence of hundreds of irregularities involving more than $600,000.

“We decided that there were too many discrepancies that were unanswered,” school board President Sherry Dillihay-McDade said following a closed-door deliberation session.

School system officials said they referred the matter to the Alabama Ethics Commission, but there are no criminal charges against Davis…
