IRVINGTON, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office on Monday identified the pilot who died when his plane crashed Saturday.
John Jenista had just taken off from Roy E. Ray Airport to return home to Florida’s Escambia County when the plane went down in a wooded area just south of the small airstrip. Robby Grice, the co-owner of the facility, told FOX10 News that Jenista came to Irvington to pick up some parachutes from a man who lives nearby.
Grice said Jenista was on his way back to Roscoe Field, west of Pensacola. He said he does not know what caused the plane to crash. That is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration…
