DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) — A wine and meat heist in Daphne turned into a high-speed police chase across the Mobile Bay on Monday evening.

22-year-old Jalea Washington from Prichard is now facing charges after police allegedly found dozens of bottles of stolen wine and multiple packages of stolen lamb chops in her car after she led police on a high-speed chase that ended with a crash on the Cochrane-Africatown Bridge in Mobile.
It began when Daphne patrol officers were called to the Publix on Highway 98 around 5 p.m. on Monday for a report of a shoplifter.
When police arrived, they said that Washington was still in the parking lot, but not for long.
