‘Very happy’: Nursing home resident receives long-lost high school diploma

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) — One resident at Arabella Health and Wellness of Fairhope is known for brightening up every room.

“Miss Montgomery is smiles every day. She doesn’t have a bad day. She makes everyone’s day better when she passes by,” Human Resources Director at Arabella Elizabeth Tranchina said. “She’s a part of the family. This is her home.”

Veronica Montgomery is a dementia patient at the facility, and there’s been one question she never stopped asking.

“She stops by my office multiple times a day and has since I started here to ask me if I could help get her high school diploma,” Tranchina explained.

That diploma is from Flomaton High School, a cherished milestone now lost…
