MOUNT VERNON, Ala. (WALA) – Officer Newman Brazier has officially been fired from the Mount Vernon Police Department, according to the town’s attorney Jay Ross.
Ross told FOX10 News Brazier was fired last week after an internal investigation concluded his actions during an arrest on May 10 were inappropriate.
In October, A FOX10 investigation uncovered leaked body camera and surveillance video from that arrest showing Brazier dragging and tasing a handcuffed man. The video also shows Brazier pepper-spraying the man in his locked jail cell while he’s still in cuffs.
Brazier’s law enforcement license was suspended by the Alabama Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission after our report aired…
