‘He was our world:’ Robertsdale man killed in motorcycle crash days before Christmas

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. (WALA) – Dana Wetherbee’s Robertsdale home remains the same way he left it. Multiple Christmas inflatables in the yard. The smell of the tree he cut himself fills the living room. The ornaments and lights he placed not moving an inch.

His daughter Jes shared a photo of her dad wearing a Santa hat while decorating the home. It was taken just days before investigators say a truck pulled out in front of his motorcycle on Highway 90 at Joe Foley Road, killing him.

“He was an amazing man. He was a family man. He loved all of his grandkids. He loved us so much. He just he was the glue that kept the family together,” Wetherbee said.

December 21 was the day Wetherbee told me her dad wanted to start a new family tradition: “Wetherbee Cookie Day,” where everyone would come over to bake and decorate cookies…
