ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Albany State University Director of Athletics Dr. Kristene Kelly has released a statement remembering Amaya Williams, who was one of three people killed in a wrong-way head-on collision crash in Baldwin County, Alabama.
The statement reads in part: “Amaya Williams immediately stood out because she was confident, articulate, and deeply impressive. I took this photo because I was so struck by her presence. I never imagined I would never get the chance to post it. This loss is heartbreaking and a sobering reminder of how fragile life truly is. My deepest condolences go out to her family, friends, and all who are grieving.”
Witnesses describe wrong-way driver
911 calls to dispatchers and witness accounts detailed how a pickup truck was driving the wrong way in fog in Baldwin County.
According to Broadcastify audio, dispatchers said: “There’s going to be a head-on collision near the 38 mile marker in the southbound lane on I-65. We didn’t have additional calls of a caller reporting a truck going northbound in the southbound lane.”…
