Winn-Dixie has been part of Alabama for decades. The company’s roots trace back to 1925, and the modern Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. was formed in 1955 through the merger of Winn & Lovett and Dixie Home Stores. This merger expanded the company to 117 stores and established its presence in five southeastern states, including Alabama.
Now the last stores in Alabama are changing ownership and locally the Foley location has become a Corner Market.
This month the ownership group stated “Corner Market is now open in Foley! Visit us at 1235 S McKenzie St for fresh food, friendly service and all your everyday essentials. Come see what’s new in your neighborhood!”…
