MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – More than 60 people took shelter from cold weather Tuesday night at Theodore Church of God on Theodore-Dawes Road, with organizers saying the facility can accommodate up to 150 people.
The church has opened its doors during severe weather for years, often filling dozens of beds during major cold snaps. Organizers said beds remain available but urged people not to wait to seek shelter.
“Don’t take that chance. It can get up on you before you know it, and there’s not always someone around to pick them up,” said Rey Bourn, an organizer. “So when our buses and our vans run, just get in the bus and van and come on down.”…
