2 southwest Alabama agencies to receive funds to help fight homelessness

MOONTGOMERY, Ala. (WALA) – Nearly $3 million in funding will be going across the state to fund programs that help people in Alabama experiencing homelessness. Two southwest Alabama agencies will share in the funding.

Gov. Kay Ivey award $2.7 million from the Emergency Solutions Grant program through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The grants will assist local governments and nonprofit agencies in providing housing and other related services to homeless people or people facing homelessness, including those who are victims of abuse and must leave their homes to protect themselves or their children.
