Victim of fatal wrong-way Christmas week crash remembered

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) – We’re learning more about one of three victims in the deadly two-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 just days before Christmas.

Authorities say an 84-year-old wrong-way driver, Simon Hadley of Bay Minette, collided head-on with 21-year-old Amaya Williams of Albany, Georgia, and 49-year-old Keithrick Williams of Auburn, Alabama. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Amaya was an undergraduate science student at Albany State University and was deeply involved on campus.

The women in pre-med chapter shared photos of Amaya and spoke about her passion for science and service. They said she aspired to become a clinical researcher focused on addressing African American health disparities and she played a key role in chartering the Women in Pre-Med Chapter at the university…
