Arrest made in fiery wrong-way crash on I-10

DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) – A wrong-way, fiery crash shut down westbound I-10 yesterday, and now the man behind the wheel is under arrest, charged with assault first driving under the influence and attempting to elude after multiple people were hurt, according to new court documents.

According to the arrest report, a state trooper pulled over Ruben Costa, and while he was running Costa’s information, Costa drove off, eventually turning south onto the northbound lane on Highway 181, which caused him to crash head-on into a vehicle that was stopped at a red light.

Court documents say Costa then drove on the wrong side of the interstate, causing a head-on collision and injuring multiple people…
