Coden man once accused of forcing abducted woman to ‘marry’ him faces new charges

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A Coden man accused in 2024 of abducting a woman and forcing her to “marry” him in a simulated ceremony was back in court Wednesday on new charges.

A judge last year dismissed most of the charges from October 2024 against Roy Lee Clowder. The new charges from last month center on an incident in which he was moving a camper. Prosecutors allege that Clowder had a dispute with someone and set the camper on fire. He also stands accused of striking and trying to drown a Mobile County Sheriff’s Office dog named Volt.

Prosecutors also allege that during the same incident, he damaged a woman’s 1994 Jeep Cherokee…
