Mobile plans tougher animal control laws amid growing community concerns

MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — Citizens have been pleading with Mobile city leaders to do more to address animal abuse and roaming dogs. During Tuesday’s city council meeting Cynthia Long spoke about a case on Louise Drive. She’s the third speaker in recent weeks to speak at their public meetings about animal control issues.

“You could see its ribs. You could tell the chain was heavier than the dog weighed,” said Long.

Animal Services Director Robert Bryant told the council the dog should be impounded, but he says when officers arrived 30 minutes after getting the call, the dog wasn’t there anymore…
