MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Backlash from residents has developers rethinking where to place a newly proposed concrete plant tied to the Mobile River Bridge and Bayway project, after the site was initially planned for Africatown.

Residents tell News 5 that they’re not against the progress but are questioning how the project could impact ongoing revitalization efforts in the historic community.
“It seems as if every time we make an advancement in Africatown, some type of industrial issue comes about, which at least makes the community feel as if they’re now having to take a step backwards,” said Executive Director of the Africatown Redevelopment Corporation Karlos Finley.
