MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) —
Horrific details about a young mother’s final moments were revealed in a Mobile County courtroom Wednesday. We learned 20-year-old Amiayia White was shot in the face, head and body as she was getting in the shower. Ten shell casings were recovered at Wilmer Hall, a transitional housing program, on Old Shell Road where the murder occurred last year. Mobile Police Department Homicide Detective Jesse Allred testified that David Smith, the father of White’s baby and unborn child, confessed to the grisly act. Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood says his office is seeking the death penalty.
“We reserve the death penalty for the worst of the worst. We don’t use it lightly. We don’t seek it lightly, and when we do seek it, it’s because we believe that it is warranted,” said Blackwood…
