A week after a Mobile teen was shot in front of Murphy High School, a group of activists will stage an event in the city to mobilize community members against gun violence.
On Monday, January 19, The Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) will work with famed rapper and television personality Yung Joc, and People United to Advance the Dream, a Mobile-based advocacy group to put on a symbolic funeral for community members to “bury gun violence.”
“We’re putting this issue to rest,” Christopher Abernathy, an ASAP spokesperson, said. “We’re uniting for this issue that’s affecting our children. We want children and their families to know that there’s support and healing ahead.”…
