Wags and Whiskers in Mobile, Ala., is caring for the canine family after assisting with the dogs’ rescue

A chained-up dog and her newborn puppies were left to fend for themselves in the middle of rising floodwaters before local animal rescuers stepped in.
On Jan. 9, Janet Lynn Webb shared on Facebook that she was searching for a rescue for a Labrador retriever mix, estimated to be around 4 years old, and the dog’s seven surviving puppies. Webb wrote the post after learning about the family of canines chained to a doghouse in Hattiesburg, Miss.
“There is a girl trying to help them and has reached out asking for assistance,” Webb wrote alongside pictures of the pups struggling to stay above floodwaters. “She just went to check on them and found the property and dog house flooded. Sadly, the Momma dog is carrying a deceased baby in her mouth and won’t let the girl take her.”…
