Baldwin County church opens warming shelter during cold snap

FOLEY, Ala. (WALA) – St. Paul’s Episcopal Church has opened a warming shelter at 506 N. Pine Street to help residents during the current cold weather.

The shelter began operations Sunday and will remain open for approximately one week throughout the cold snap. The facility has no specific hours of operation and no requirements for guests seeking shelter.

“We were asked to open up a warming center for residents in the area who may not have a warm place to stay,” said George Waller, a volunteer. “For safety reasons too, it’s going to be cold, for at least the next couple of nights and we have a warm comfortable place for folks to stay. We have some nice cots and blankets and everything you need and we just want everyone to be safe.”…
