A Southern Living writer has a lot to say on the topic of “My Favorite Restaurant in Alabama.”
A new story by Melinda Salchert lets readers know right up front that her pick is in a “charming coastal town,” which turns out to be Fairhope. The venue is The Hope Farm, which Salchert describes as “a farm-to-table restaurant that truly lives up to the name.”
That’s because even though the farm occupies a small site within urban Fairhope, it uses hydroponic farming and innovative arrangements to get a substantial year-round yield. That includes mushrooms, lettuce, herbs and more. “Whatever The Hope Farm doesn’t grow on-site is sourced locally,” writes Salchert. “From oysters and fish to chicken and steaks, the menu reflects both what’s grown at The Hope Farm and what’s available nearby.”…
