MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A man who skipped out on part of his criminal trial last month will have to go to jail for three days.
Mobile County Circuit Judge Jill Phillips conducted a two-day hearing to determine why Otha Shamburger failed to comply with an order that he show up for his trial on a charge of shooting into an occupied building.
Shamburger, who was there at the start of the trial but not the end when the jury deliberated and then found him not guilty, testified that his girlfriend was having a medical emergency on the day of the verdict and that she was “going in and out, in and out.” He testified that he feared for her life and so took her to the hospital…
