BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) – A driver fleeing Summerdale police was injured and his passenger was killed when their vehicle hit a tree in Baldwin County late Saturday night, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said. The driver now faces a manslaughter charge.
The crash happened about 11:43 p.m. Saturday. Jorge Loza-Resendiz, 28, of Summerdale, was pronounced dead at the scene.
ALEA said the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, 25-year-old Juan Jose Morales-Gonzalez, also of Summerdale, was trying to elude a Summerdale police officer. The truck left the road and hit a tree in a mobile home community just off Baldwin County 38, authorities said.
