Alabama farmer, veteran and small business owner Terry Waters on Wednesday announced his candidacy for Alabama Senate District 22. Waters is a lifelong resident of the Robertsdale area and said he has deep roots across the district he hopes to represent.
Waters was raised on a family farm “where faith, family, and hard work were not just values—they were his way of life.” Twenty-five days after graduating from Robertsdale High School, Waters enlisted in the United States Army. He said that answering the call to service would inevitably shape his life, values and work ethic for decades to come.
After completing Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, Waters was stationed in Fulda, Germany, where he served three miles away from the East–West German border during a critical time in world history. Waters said he witnessed firsthand the stark contrast between freedom and government control, including the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
