MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Students at St. Pius X Catholic School celebrated their 15th annual Crewe de la Cardinal parade with music, colorful costumes, and special guests.
The school’s Mardi Gras tradition featured a Wicked theme this year, with students dressed as lions, tinmen, and scarecrows. The parade included both older students who marched in the procession and younger children who participated by throwing beads and other carnival items.
“This is our 15th year of hosting the Krewe de la Cardinal parade. And we’ve enjoyed every minute of it,” said Sonia Nelson of St. Pius X Catholic School. “Each year, it’s a different theme. We did ‘Wicked’ this year. We had our lions, and our tinmen, and our scarecrows. And the children enjoy it. The big kids get involved with the parading, and the young children enjoy getting into the costumes and throwing the throws for everybody.”…
