The Mobile Airport Authority board welcomed former Mobile mayor Sandy Stimpson as a member this week, then promptly elected him board chairman.
Stimpson had recently spoken about his desire to join the board, and Treasurer David White had offered to step down so that Stimpson could be appointed to fill the remainder of his six-year term.
