Fat Tuesday in Mobile brings a crowd

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — It’s Fat Tuesday in Mobile, the birthplace of Mardi Gras. Usually, when I get to downtown Mobile before dawn, I’m the only one up and around. That’s not the case today.

When I arrived at Mardi Gras Park there were already at least four families who had set up tents, tables, and chairs along Royal Street. One group from Saraland said they arrived at 3:15 this morning. They were already cooking up a breakfast assortment of bacon and eggs and said more than 30 people would be part of their party today.

There are a lot of parades happening in Mobile and Baldwin today. You can see our rundown of parades here…
