Weekend Glock switch arrest in Mobile shows why state law was needed, DA says

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Police on Sunday encountered a loud argument between two men downtown and moved in to break it up.

According to the Mobile police narrative, Kelvin Barnes Jr. lifted up his shirt to reveal a Glock pistol that had been modified with a plastic device that converted it into a fully automatic weapon. Thanks to a new law approaching the one-year mark, officers were able to arrest the 28-year-old Citronelle man and seize the weapon.
